The Mustang vs a Lotus?? Seriously. the lotus weighs less, has close to double the price tag and is a track car. The mustang is a average joe, bare bones, cheap drag racing, get your thrills cars. In terms of cool and badassness, the Ford Mustang vs. a Lotus is comparing Clint Eastwood to a cross country runner.

why is the zr1 even being brought up. I’m American and I can tell you hat chevy uses a ohv engine. The ohv engines are outdated I’d rather have a ford gtx1 than a zr1

@BucketheadLS1: ZR1 is over $100,000. For that sort of money you can do a lot better than a plastic wedge with a big engine. Like 2 Lotus Elise, or 2 BMW M3, or a nice Porsche 911, or Nissan GTR with about 20 grand left to tune it. ZR1 is fast…but that’s about it. And for $100,000, there is a whole lot of better cars out there.

The ZR1 shits on pretty much any exotic out there. That’s just a fact. It does it for about 1/2 or a 1/3 or the price too.

Err… jeremy. The Lotus isn’t a bad car, but neither is the MUSTANG. You’re comparing me (135lbs, 6′ tall, 22 year old) VS a body builder (300lbs, 6′ tall, 40 year old) running a full circuit with an elapsed time. Clearly, the MUSTANG is no match to a car only 1/3 its total weight. Speed lays on how less weight you have VS how much power you possess. Bad comparison here, I’m amazed that stock, rumbling, heavy V8 kept up with that featherweight Elise. My respect to the MUSTANG driver.

My bosses GT is parked in the hall right outside my office. BTW It has a full 5/8″ gap all around the engine lid, something that not one of my 6 Corvettes had. Now will you quit your fucking whining and go away? PS Ford thrives because it supplies most of the white trash with pickup trucks. Walmart survives. Means their shit is great?

@wd1000 big words for a small man. first off i do not own a mustang im not saying i want a mustang but if i wanted supremacy i would have dodged them and went for a ford gt. and the mustang and the corvette are leagues apart so why you’re ringing the base vette vs base stang into this is just plain retarded you compare a base corvette with a gt500, id rather have the gt500. also answer me this why has general motors sunk while ford is thriving?

@TVRnGTR What comments? Not a mind reader? I actually am not relying on comments. I said I have owned 6 Vettes, all with essentially same rear suspension. Leaf spring…. If you have not seen and understand the Vette spring, do not comment. If you have seen it and understand it, stop lying about what it really is. Build quality… If you think Vette is inferior to Mustang, you are delusional. Why do you think ppl pay twice as much for one??????

Comparing an Exige to a Mustang is all wrong, they might as well have compared it to a Jaguar X Type.
And all you Corvette bashers, I understand it’s a piece of plastic with bad build quality. I realize it has leaf springs, but you cannot deny it is just as fast as a GTR. The GTR is space age, but is not any faster than the Corvette. We will see how owners feel after their maintenance costs kicks in. Lastly, what is wrong with leaf springs? The ride is not all that compromised.

@TVRnGTR You really ought to research Corvettes a bit before bashing them so hard. Leaf springs on a Vette have nothing to do with steel multi-leaf springs of the past. Single transverse mounted composite. Lighter, less unsprung weight, less inertia, faster reaction than any other type of spring used (except gas). One inch gaps? I don’t think so. I’ve had 6 of them. Build quality compared to Mustang is reflected in sales price. Period. Rigidity issues? Watch a few races.

You mean the track ready car with half the weight but more than half the hp beat the Sunday driver that costs $30k less? Top Gear never misses a chance to make American cars fail at something. But I guess a go-cart with a body kit is a “triumph of British engineering.” I’m tempted to quit watching this show all together between this and the false stats in the GT500 review

I just rode in a Lotus today. They are just as good as he says they are.Actually even better.When you ride in it you cant feel the car around you except for the seat. It feels like there is no such things as brakes and when your going over 100 mph it feels almost like flying. Its that good.
