TF2 Classes Detailed – Part One

Nine unique classes, all with varying abilities skills, health and skins. Like Counter-Strike Source Servers, Team Fortress 2 has a big community of mod and map makers out there working tirelessly to make the game better for all that plays it. It is two years since Team Fortress 2 game servers first came out, and its as popular as it has ever been.

Team Fortress 2 servers have 9 players are separated into 3 sub classes formed on support, defensive and offensive. Though you don't have to play these exact roles, they are set to give the best balance.

On Team Fortress 2 servers without an effective defence, you will lose. Having a good back line is needed to stop the scout from sneaking through your defence.

Without a proper gun you have to be skilled at this class to know how to play indirectly unless you like using the bottle to melee with. The Demoman can take out enemies using a variety of clever tricks using the games physics engine. The grenade launcher itself is a very powerful weapon and can take out classes with small health pools in just one or two grenades (scouts, medics and spys). You can also use the grenade launcher to effectively take out sentry guns from behind corners. The sticky grenades work like proximity mines and so are great for laying as traps near intelligence or control points and tight choke points. Sticky grenades can be laid to take out a high number of kills. Try this class if you are awful at aiming, but like explosions!

Next up is the Heavy. This chap really has some meat behind his punch. He is also the heaviest and slowest of all the classes but makes up for that in the fact he has the most health and the biggest gun. In fact, he'll take out the other classes with ease. The only thing he struggles is if he meets his opposite number from the other team. With a long range, he can battle several enemies at once. On the flip side, his mingun does take a while to kick in. Don't expect to move far once you have got it going as you will be slower than your gran with a Zimmer frame!! Covering while they take out the enemy, heavies work best when they are protected at short range. If you like to make people shut up on clan servers, choose this guy!

The engineer should normally only need to attack players when he comes under fire himself. His role is to deploy and maintain buildings that are helpful to his team. The engineer is best known for his sentry gun which he can repair and upgrade with his wrench. " Best known for his sentry gun which he can upgraded with a twist of his wrench. However, you need to gather metal either from downed players, ammo crates and also their own dispensers. Dispensers placed round the map are also used to re-supply players. Teleports are an excellent way of moving players from one part of the map to another. This may be from the spawn to an obscure place outside the enemies base. When it comes to getting their hands dirty they are not down and out with their slightly generic weapons. However they can be effective at medium range with their turrets and tend to sit in cover. . If you like turrets and building, the engineer is for you.
